First Meeting

Hi everyone welcome back.
Today we had our first meeting as a group and discussed our focus issue and what some more ideas were to improve the Hautapu river awareness of it's pollution. We allocated certain jobs to everyone and everyone took part.We thought it would be a good idea to put an article in the Taihape Times and get the Community supporting us. Also we had some students ring Horizons and get some more information about Hautapu river. We also assighned Michael to be our facillitator and Jess is our note taker. We will also be updating our wiki some time. Don't forget to send in all your ideas on how we can improve the Hautapu river.

River Exploration

Hi everyone welcome back. Today we went for trip down to the local Hautapu River to see if we could find any possible pollution problems. We saw quite a lot of rubbish and pipes with a lot of unknown sludge and other slimy things lying around. We also found an old concrete system that could have been an old water treatmant or even the old swimming pools. We also went for a look down Papakai where there has been a lot of flooding and the cliff is slowly slipping away. Hopefully we will carry on looking for the main cause of the Hautapu River pollution

Personal Goal

Hi welcome back to my blog, today we are setting goals and my main one for this term is to focus on the work needed to be done and hopefully make a change to the Hautapu River. To do this I must contribute ideas and work as a team with all my classmates.throughout the term we will have a lot of opportunities to go down to the River and find out what's polluting it.

ISSUE DECIDED!!!!!!!!!

After a long hard debate we have finally decided on cleaning up the Hautapu River. We thought cleaning up the river would be a better issue to focus on as it targets on the Residents of Taihape and can make Taihape a better place. We decided on this particular issue because we thought our other options like re opening the Cinema was more for ourselves and that the cinema is not as neccassary as the Hautapu stream pollution. For the remainer of the term we will be focusing on cleaning the Hautapu River and hopefully we can make a change. If you have any ideas or suggestions i would like to hear them.

Hello World

Hi everyone this is a first time for me on a blog spot. I live in a small rural town in clean green New Zealand called Taihape and I am in a leadership and communication class. As a class we are deciding on an issue that effects our community. I enjoy living in Taihape as it has a lot of sporting activities to offer, especially rugby. We are looking to improve a lot of things in Taihape, here is a list of some of the many things needed to be improved in Taihape.
  • opening the cinemas
  • recycling collected
  • Graffiti free Taihape
  • more youth sports opportunities
  • our river cleaned up

If you have any ideas or suggestions I would like to hear about them.

Here are a few questions our class has been discussing.

The thing I like most about Taihape?

I like living in a community where everyone knows everyone and they are all friendly. We also have a lot of rugby opportunities and that is great for me as I play rugby.

The thing I like least about Taihape?

I think Taihape needs too many things to improve on like the rubbish disposal and opening the cinema and there is a lot of graffiti going on in Taihape.

If I were Mayor of Taihape i would?

I would improve the rubbish disposal and open the cinema and organise more sporting events.

If i had $10,000 dollars to spend on the Taihape Community?

I would once again open the cinema and organise more sporting events like touch competitions. And I would improve the rubbish disposal and place more rubbish bins around Taihape.

here are our class guidelines below

  • participate
  • get your work done
  • be open to other peoples ideas
  • Respect other people and their resources

So once again if you have any ideas I would like to hear about them.
